I got in a few that were factory made to take regular AK mags, they shot fine and more accurate then an AK. I still see them but at what I consider high prices, just wonder where they all went Actually brought them in on pallets, I was set up by the door and it seemed like everybody leaving had one. Is amazing how many of these rifles got sold, I was set up at a big gun show once and a guy was selling them for $75 fast as hot cakes. I used to buy and sell LOTS of Chinese SKS rifles, back in the early 1990s I would buy them for $60 and sell them for $99 and think I was doing something. A lot of people (mostly on those "other" forums) crap on the SKS, but i really like mine. Eventually i'm gonna order some Tech Sights and see if they'll help shave down the groups and a die and alignment tool so i can put on a real muzzle break. Plenty accurate for hunting whitetails in my area. Shoots best with 154 gr soft points and holds a pretty consistent 3" at 100yds. It's never had a FTF since i've had it and will eat anything. Also put on swivels and a loop sling, then learned how to use it.

The stock will allow the use of the Tapco 20 rnd mags, which work really well and look super cool, but aren't very comfortable with the rifle slung over my shoulder. Just kidding! I immediately sanded that mother down to nothing and rubbed it with Teak Oil. I carefully installed it being sure not to damage the factory finish. What else? New pants! My parents got me a fancy new stock to put on it, as the length-of-pull on the factory timber was too short for me. It's now a very convincing 2 stage with a clean break around 4 lbs. Success! Slightly positive sear engagement, very safe, very little creep. Cut slow, kids! Reground and polished new sear S-L-O-W-L-Y. Too short, had to sh*t-can it and order another.

To the workshop we go! Much more research. I did some research and discovered that SKS trigger groups are notoriously complex and no one wants to work on them. I put in a recoil buffer and a Wolff spring kit, which seemed to help with trigger pull consistency, though still awful.

When i got it it had a really nice barrel and shot well, but i can't leave anything alone. It's an early model Norinco SKS with the threaded barrel. Just wanted to show off a boom stick i've been working on.
